MAKÜ, Achieved a Significant Rise in the UI GreenMetric Ranking!

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) achieved another significant success in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025 results, where its efforts in the field of sustainability were recognized on an international scale. The university scored 5,985 points in this year's evaluation, rising to 778th place worldwide and 83rd place in Turkey, marking a notable improvement compared to last year.

A Significant Rise Compared to Last Year

MAKÜ, when it first participated in the UI GreenMetric ranking in 2024, was ranked 889th worldwide and 92nd in Turkey. The results announced this year reveal that the steps taken in the university's sustainability policies have created a tangible improvement.

The scores obtained by MAKÜ in the sub-headings contributing to the UI GreenMetric ranking are determined as follows:

Sustainable Infrastructure (SI): 785

Energy and Climate Actions (EC): 760

Waste Management (WS): 1100

Water Management (WR): 862.5

Transportation (TR): 1412.5

Education and Research (ED): 1065

Among 142 universities in Turkey, MAKÜ;

Ranked 17th in Water Management, 42nd in Transportation, 73rd in Waste Management, and 88th in Education and Research.

These results show that the efforts carried out by MAKÜ in areas such as eco-friendly practices, energy efficiency, waste reduction, water management, and sustainable transportation are recognized on both national and international scales.

The university administration emphasized that they see sustainability efforts not just as a target for rankings but as a requirement of their social and environmental responsibilities, and stated that they aim for higher rankings in the coming years.
